Tenant Move-Out Process

Moving out of your rental property? Follow these steps to ensure a smooth and hassle-free process:

1. Provide Proper Notice

  • Submit a written move-out notice at least 60 days before your intended move-out date. Use the [Move-Out Notice Form](https://wkf.ms/4ikdwuF) and include the following details:

  • Your full name(s)

  • Rental property address

  • Intended move-out date

  • Forwarding address for your security deposit refund

2. Schedule a Pre-Move-Out Inspection (Optional)

  • Contact your landlord/property manager to schedule a pre-move-out inspection.

  • This step helps identify any repairs or cleaning needed to avoid deductions from your security deposit.

3. Prepare the Property for Move-Out

  • Clean thoroughly: Ensure the property is in the same condition as when you moved in (excluding normal wear and tear).

  • Repair damages: Fix any damage caused during your tenancy (e.g., holes in walls, broken fixtures).

  • Remove all personal belongings: Take all items and dispose of any trash.

  • Return keys and access devices: Hand over all keys, garage remotes, or access cards on the final move-out day.

4. Attend the Final Move-Out Inspection

  • A final inspection will be conducted by your landlord/property manager after you vacate.

  • The inspection will assess:

  • Property cleanliness

  • Condition of appliances, fixtures, and walls

  • Any damages beyond normal wear and tear

5. Receive Your Security Deposit Refund

  • After the final inspection, your security deposit will be processed as follows:

  • Full refund: If the property is in good condition and no deductions are needed.

  • Partial refund: If repairs or cleaning are required, itemized deductions will be provided.

  • Refunds will be sent to your forwarding address within the timeframe required by local laws (typically 21–30 days).

6. Finalize Utilities and Payments

  • Notify utility providers to transfer or disconnect services (electricity, water, gas, etc.) as of your move-out date.

  • Ensure all rent and fees are paid in full before moving out.

Important Reminders

Failure to provide proper notice or leave the property in good condition may result in additional charges or forfeiture of your security deposit.
